Goal

Why Moodie?

We live in a world that moves faster than we can process. We believed that understanding your own emotions is one of the most overlooked tools for well-being. So we set out to build something that actually helps people start and stick with emotional self-awareness.

Research

What we found

Users know that tracking emotions is good for them, but they still quit. The three biggest barriers: it feels like a chore, there's no immediate reward, and revisiting emotions can feel overwhelming.

Key pain points we prioritized (+1 voted)

Logging emotions feels like a chore, too much friction to start

Hard to build a consistent habit, users drop off quickly

No meaningful feedback or patterns from past entries

Lack of personalized content or guidance based on emotions

Problem

The core question

"How might we make emotional logging feel like a natural reaction, not a task to schedule?"

From our research, two patterns emerged: the barrier to starting was too high, and even motivated users saw no value loop to keep going. These became the two anchors for our design decisions.

People genuinely want to reflect, but they are simply too busy in daily life.

Solutions

What we decided to build first

From the full solution space, we focused on Quick Wins, high-impact features th be implemented without heavy at couldcomplexity. These mapped directly to our top-voted pain points.

Quick Log UX: log your emotion in under 5 seconds

One-line entry: a fast, low-friction first step

UX Flow

Designing the flow

I mapped the core user journey around two drop-off moments we identified: the very first log, and the moment users stop returning. The flow prioritizes speed at entry and reward at review.
